The Artisan Training Institute (ATI) was established in 1982 as a subsidiary of the Anglo-
Alpha Group of Companies. The company was privatised in February 1999. In April 2008,
the company was pur chased, and subsequently r e-branded as ATI in 2012.

ATI’s training programme
ATI works on an open-entry open-exit basis to of fer clients flexibility. The vast majority of
ATI learners are from corporate entities.
Typically the learning provided by the institute is br oken into three phases:
• Phase 1 comprises approximately 12 to 15 weeks;
• Phase 2 approximately 12 weeks; and
• Phase 3 approximately 8 weeks of institutional training.
Prior to writing trade tests, learners return to the institute for 1 to 2 weeks trade revision,
following which they will write trade tests.

FAST FACTS
• Since privatisation in 2008, and under new management, the quality and scale of the operations have improved
substantially.
• ATI is recognised by the United Nations as a “Regional Centre of Excellence”.
• ATI has recently partnered with the Master Card Foundation to upskill TVET
staff.
